From an interview with Debra Clydesdale What is your philosophy? The skin is a reflection of the health of the inner body. We provide treatments that promote Inner Heath and Outer Beauty. Not Outer Beauty at the expense of Inner Health. According to Oriental Medicine Principles, different skin problems such as sagging, wrinkles and lines, or dark circles relate to inner organ imbalances that must be addressed to enhance the effectiveness and results of facial renewal treatments. Treatments that strip or disturb the skin or apply things drive the imbalance back into the body and can produce imbalances and health problems later over time. We develop a plan based on the unique constitution and lifestyle of each of our patients that helps move them to more vibrant health that radiates form their faces. When I had acupuncture facials I experienced emotional reactions. You told me "the mask falls off". Would you elaborate on that, please? The face is our bridge of communication to others. What we want to express shows in facial movements. What we want to hide is often held in a “facial mask”. These habitual patterns produce lines wrinkles and uneven facial muscle patterns. Some people experience emotions during or after a session, this can often be related to things that they haven’t had the opportunity to express that have become locked in the musculature beneath their consciousness. In Oriental Medicine there is a concept that all of the “meridians” flow through the face, thus releasing tension and improving circulation through the face can have body wide healing effects. I also include elements of Oriental Medicine Facial Diagnosis in my treatments if the client is open to it. I have had specialized training in this area. The concept was developed by the Taoist Monks and has been passed down from generation to generation. It is said that the old emperor had a face reader on staff to interview all the guests to see if they were honest and reliable. Through Face Reading and treatment many things can be discovered, brought to the surface and resolved. We look at the face shape, facial features and markings to diagnose disease, and imbalances in the organs, emotions and personality aspects. You have also integrated “Kandesn” Cosmetics, a Sunrider product. What is the difference between Kandesn and other natural cosmetics?
